Warning - Scams!
Work from home scams

Unfortunately, the internet is full of offers of work-from-home jobs that are nothing but scams.  They aim to con money out of people who are just looking to make a little extra money for themselves and their families.

More information here.  Or read below for some quick tips.

A typical scam is to offer simple work, then to ask for money up-front for 'materials' or 'registration' or some other excuse.  Then they reject work as not being up to 'standards' or whatever.  Remember, if someone is employing you they pay you, not the other way round!

Some things to look out for.

>>Start by not believing what you read.  Be sceptical and think twice about everything.

>>Has the company got landline phone number (not a mobile), and a proper address, not a Box or an accommodation address?

>>Are they offering work, or just to find work for you?  Don't pay anyone for this service.  Genuine agencies get payed by the employer.

>>Never send money for employment.  They pay you!

>>Ask for references. The best references are from friends or someone else you trust.  Online forums may be useful, but check who runs them.

>>If the work involves creating and selling a product, ask yourself would you buy it?

>>If a company offers you an advance on your "pay," don't believe it! Often, after you've deposited the cheque, the company will contact you saying you've been paid the wrong amount, and you need to refund part of it. Then, once your cheque is in their bank, you'll discover their cheque to you has bounced.

STAY ALERT!
